Q was first published in October 1986, and was made puropsely to be aimed at an older generation of music buyees as the editiors thought they were 'left out.' However over the years Q is recognised to be one of the most popular music features in the UK.
Q is known for compiling lists. It has created many, ranging from "The 100 Greatest albums" to the "100 Greatest List" as well as the "100 Greatest Songs" and "100 Greatest Arttists." These various countdowns include artists in all music genres. This widens the target auidience.
In recent years, the magazine had a revamp which altered the over all image to appear looking like The Rolling Stone magazine. which is another very popular music edition magazine.
